Barite has the characteristics of high density, stable chemical and thermal properties. In the paint industry, barite powder filler can increase the thickness, strength and durability of film. Whether midified barite powder can be used as oil paint filler?

     At first, stearic acid can uniformly coat on the surface of ultrafine barite powder to form firm envelope, which has good affinity with organic paint. Besides, the surface tension decreases significantly. Its good compatibility with organic paint improves covering power. The application experiments of modified superfine barite powder in FO3-1red phenolic paint shows that its performance can meet relevant quality indicators, some perfomance indexes even better than test factory’s original paint.
